Welcome

Welcome

RHAC meets every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. on North Campus in Royer Student Activities Center (Building 183) 85 Curl Dr, Columbus, OH 43210.

About Us

RHAC is the governing organization for all residence halls at The Ohio State University. We oversee OSU's 21 residence halls and complexes, working with hall councils and University Residences and Dining Services to create the premiere residence hall experience for our students.

In addition, RHAC represents OSU's residence halls on the regional and national levels as a member of the Central Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (Cougar Pride!) and the National Association of College and University Residence Halls. RHAC is a partner organization of the newly-reinstated (in June 2011) National Residence Halls Honorary, an organization representing the top 1% of residence hall students.

If you have questions or suggestions about your residence hall experience, please e-mail us at rhac@osu.edu, or leave a comment here, or message us on Facebook.

Be sure to follow us on Twitter - @rhac.

RHAC serves as the voice of residence hall students and is the governing organization for all campus residence hall councils. Each residence hall elects an Executive Board which sends a member to represent the opinions of their students within the RHAC Senate. Students work within the Senate by joining committees, creating programs, approving funding and voicing their opinions and concerns for the betterment of the student residential experience. Below are some of our signature events:

  • Casino Night (Philanthropy Event)
  • Valentine's Day Bear Bash (Philanthropy Event)
  • The Leadership Miniseries

Get Involved

The best way to get involved with RHAC is to come out and join us at our Tuesday meetings. We also have events throughout the year that students are encouraged to attend. Students can participate by working on our committees to better the residential experience. RHAC is a great fit for students interested in advocacy, programming, leadership, service and more.

Our Mission

The mission of the Residence Halls Advisory Council is to serve The Ohio State University undergraduate residence hall student population. This goal will be achieved through:

  1. Advocating the interest of all undergraduate residence hall governments and associations equally.
  2. Creating and supporting campus-wide residence hall activities that are supported by one of the five RHAC pillars:
    1. Creating and Developing Community
    2. Student Advocacy
    3. Student Development and Wellness
    4. Diversity
    5. Recognition and Leadership
  3. Encouraging student involvement in improving undergraduate residence hall facilities and programs.
  4. Facilitation of communication between student leaders, University Residence and Dining Services (URDS) and Physical Facilities and Development through the review of policies, procedures, and practices as requested by staff or residence hall students. In addition, the Residence Halls Advisory Council will provide liaisons to the administrative areas of URDS and other campus organizations.
  5. Serving as the coordinating body for undergraduate residence halls governments and student associations, thereby encouraging communication among the membership.
  6. Representing undergraduate residence hall students on University-wide committees and student groups.
  7. Serving as an advocacy body as well as an information and funding partner to other residence hall student organizations.
